Cox Radio, Inc. to Syndicate “The Motley Fool”

Cox Radio, Inc. and The Motley Fool announced today that the two companies have formed a broadcasting partnership to produce and distribute “The Motley Fool Radio Show,” America’s most relevant radio talk show about money, investing, and building wealth.

“The Motley Fool Radio Show” will debut in Los Angeles on KFI-AM and in Atlanta on WSB-AM on June 13, and will be available for nationwide syndication from noon - 3 p.m. EST on Saturdays starting early this fall.

“We’re thrilled to be working with the leaders in ‘common sense investing’ for the ‘90s,” said Robert F. Neil, president and chief executive officer of Cox Radio. “Listeners will be able to get valuable information to enrich their lives, and with The Motley Fool, you know it will be presented in a fun and entertaining way. This is a show that every News/Talk radio station in America will want to offer its listeners.”

The Motley Fool, Inc., founded by brothers David and Tom Gardner, operates the best-known personal finance and investment site on the Internet and on America Online (AOL). The Gardner brothers have built their reputation by demystifying investing and making money matters fun by labeling traditional Wall Street “The Wise,” and their millions of readers “Fools.”

“We can’t wait to liven-up financial talk radio,” said Tom Gardner. “Too often, money and investing is given an old-fashioned dull treatment. Over the past three years, we’ve been helping millions to thumb their noses at the financial industry by helping them dig their way out of debt, building stock investment plans, and looking to the future. ‘The Motley Fool Radio Show’ will be as much theirs as ours.”

“We had a number of radio company suitors on this concept, and we chose Cox because of its programming expertise and focus on value for the listener,” said David Gardner. “Cox shares our vision for a brand new type of financial radio show that will combine education, entertainment, and enrichment for the masses.”

“This will be a no-holds-barred, ‘what to do with my money’ show,” said David G. Hall, KFI Program Director and vice president, product development for Cox Radio. WSB’s Program Director Greg Moceri added, “The Fools will be cutting-edge and fun. They are true believers in empowering people to feel confident about what they do with their money.”

Having started with 60 readers in August 1994, The Motley Fool now averages 20 million visits per month on AOL and at its Internet site at www.fool.com. The Fool’s three Simon & Schuster books are all Business Week and Amazon.com best-sellers. The Motley Fool weekly syndicated newspaper column appears in more than 120 newspapers in the United States.

“The Motley Fool Radio Show” will originate at Fool Global Headquarters in Alexandria, VA. National Radio Sales will be handled by Media America, Inc., the largest independent marketer of radio programs in the United States. Greg Moceri of WSB will serve as executive producer, and Paul Douglas of WSB will oversee station relations, marketing and promotion.

Cox Radio is one of the 10 largest radio broadcasting companies in the United States, based on both net revenues and number of stations. Upon close of all pending transactions, Cox Radio will own, operate or provide sales and marketing services for 58 stations (39 FM and 19 AM) clustered in 12 markets such as Los Angeles and Atlanta and Sunbelt markets including Miami, Tampa, Orlando, San Antonio and Birmingham. Cox Radio shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol: CXR.
