How do I reduce the amount of promotional email I get from The Motley Fool?

As you might have noticed, we offer our members plenty of opportunities to take advantage of other products in our suite of services. Yes, it’s true, we make more money when you become a member in more services.

But more importantly, we want to ensure everyone is a member of the service best suited for his or her timeline, temperament, style, and interests. We’ve got roughly a dozen services, and we want you to know about them so you can make the best choice for your needs.

Imagine we’re a clothing store — we’d want to invite you to explore the whole store, not just sort through the items on the front rack.

But we have no desire to force you to look at our cable-knit sweaters if you’re only interested in dress shirts and blue jeans.

If you’re not interested in other services, that’s fine. Here’s a link to your email settings page. Click there or just go to My Settings (under My Fool on the top navigation bar of Fool.com), click Email Settings, and unclick Special Offers to unsubscribe from promotional emails.

It might take up to 24 hours to take effect. Then you’ll just get the emails from the service you’re in.

I’d like to see clearer instructions regarding the particular settings on the email page. I have it setup in a way that would appear to stop promotional emails for services I already pay for, but I still get the promo emails. I also don’t see a way to subscribe to email notifications for a particular thread in the community. I don’t want to have to log into MF to check for replies every time, but would rather get daily notifications about activity on a thread I’m part of, or a particular reply to a comment I’ve made. Thanks!
