Not every job offers the same opportunities. One might have a path to promotion but not pay very well, while another might serve as golden handcuffs -- paying well but not being much fun to do.

Whether you're starting a career or rebooting it, it's important to pick the right path. To help with that, Glassdoor says it "analyzed millions of employee reviews on [its website] to identify 25 jobs with the best career opportunities in the U.S." The resulting report shows big opportunities in a number of fields, including technology, finance, healthcare, and marketing.

"Job seekers can use this unique list of jobs to identify roles that have been rated by actual employees on Glassdoor as (1) fostering strong career opportunities at their companies, (2) paying well above the U.S. median base salary, and (3) being in demand in today’s labor market," the jobs site explained in a press release.

25 jobs that offer the best career opportunities

To compile its list, Glassdoor analyzed data from the past year rating salary, number of job openings, and what it calls "career opportunity rating" -- a 1-to-5 scale based on actual reviews. For salary, all 25 jobs on the list had a median annual base above $80,000, according to numbers reported on Glassdoor, while each position listed had at least 2,000 openings as of July 5, 2019.

What does it mean?

For job seekers, a list like this can help you narrow down your choices. If multiple areas interest you and one appears on this list, then that can help you decide which career path to follow.

It's important, however, to not pick your path based solely on the idea that it pays well or that other people have enjoyed that line of work. Use this list as an aid in helping you pick a direction, and remember that markets change. Today's in-demand, high-paying job may not be as in-demand or pay as much tomorrow, so do your homework to understand the longer-term prospects as best as possible.
