Who would've thunk it? Prince, the financial market's visionary? Yes, unless you had more shorts than a Ron Jon's Surf Shop, odds are you lost a good deal of paper profits last year.

The Bull Argument...
I don't think 2001 will be a bad stock market year. Actually, I think it's going to be a pretty good one. This eau de gloom that sentiment has splashed on might be reason enough.

Bear Argument...
As we head into 2001, it's clear that the decline in stock prices in 2000 was not a dip, a pullback, or a temporary round of profit taking. It was the first bona fide bear market in a decade. It doesn't appear to be over yet, so the only question that remains is how long it will last into 2001.
