Rule Breakers, Rule Makers...

Rule Breakers and Rule Makers. That's all there is to it? David? Tom? Are you really suggesting all I have to do is:

1)Run a few numbers,
2)Speculate on where the world is going, and
3)Invest accordingly?

Sounds too simple. Sounds too easy. No calculus. No differential equations. No Wise men there to hold my hand.

Well, four months ago, during the market meltdown, I reviewed the old portfolio and found some house cleaning was in order. You know, the best stock for the next six months (put forth in that glossy magazine), the Wise's pick of the week (from that newspaper), stuff that's ready to move, paper guaranteed to double in price -- fast. Somehow it didn't.

So I say to myself, how much worse can I do with some of these "Rule" things? Over the last four months I found four companies that looked good, three Rule Makers, one Rule Breaker. Bought a little. Let's see what they'll do for me.

After four innings here's how we're looking: up an average of 79%. The poorest performer was up 64%, the best, 102%. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes (and more importantly, with my own money), I honestly don't think I would have believed it. Toot! Toot! No longer do the Gardner's have to toot their own horn. Toot! Toot! Once more for good measure.

Rule Breakers and Rule Makers. That is all there is to it.
