Noted Thought Leaders Discuss Benefits of a More Transparent Future at SXSW

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Best-selling business authors and thought leaders Don Peppers and Martha Rogers, Ph.D., who coined the term “the 1 to 1 Future” before it was realized by the likes of Facebook and Twitter, will address using social media to combat cronyism and widespread business corruption at this year’s South by Southwest Conferences and Festivals, Peppers & Rogers Group announced today.

“Nowhere to Hide: Can Twitter Fight Corruption?” is the title of the session, which will take place at the Hyatt Regency Austin on Sunday, March 10 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm during the interactive portion of the festivals.

Peppers and Rogers will discuss how interactive technologies could be employed to generate a level of transparency sufficient to eliminate the need for costly and intrusive regulatory actions, such as Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank.

“Social media sites like Twitter can permit the market or ‘crowd’ to discipline bad behavior by individuals and companies,” says Peppers.

Adds Rogers: “Social media has made it a whole new ballgame. Cronyism and dishonesty have always been rampant, as evidenced today by the Libor scandal and nonstop insider trading. But, now we have new weapons to fight corruption.”

Following the session, Peppers and Rogers will be available for signings of their latest book, Extreme Trust: Honesty as a Competitive Advantage. #sxsw #booksigning#DonPeppers#tweetcop. This will take place at the SX Bookstore at the Austin Convention Center at 4 pm.

Peppers and Rogers revolutionized customer strategy 20 years ago with their groundbreaking book, The One to One Future, which predicted social media. They are founding partners of Peppers & Rogers Group, the world’s premier customer-centered management consultancy.

Peppers is one of LinkedIn’s inaugural Key Influencers.
