Neustar Submits Response to RFP for Local Number Portability Administration in the United States

STERLING, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Today, Neustar, Inc. (NYSE: NSR  ) submitted its proposal in response to the North American Portability Management LLC’s Request for Proposal (RFP) for local number portability administration in the United States.

Neustar’s response is distinguished by the company’s expertise in number management, its 15-year commitment to performance and neutrality, and its demonstrated record of partnering with its customers to deliver value through innovation.

“We are proud to submit what we believe is a strong proposal to continue as the Local Number Portability Administrator,” said Steve Edwards, Neustar’s Senior Vice President for Carrier Services. “For the last 15 years, Neustar has reliably provided the telecommunications industry and the consumers they serve the number porting services they rely upon while maintaining the highest commitment to neutrality. Our proposal places us in a strong competitive position to remain the Local Number Portability Administrator for the United States.”

Neustar’s response includes the legal opinion required by the RFP confirming the company’s neutrality. The legal opinion concludes that Neustar is impartial, is not aligned with any particular telecommunications industry segment, and can assure that access to local number portability services is at all times evenhanded, impartial and nondiscriminatory.

As the administrator of local number portability, a critical part of our nation’s telecommunications infrastructure, Neustar enables the routing of billions of phone calls and text messages daily for the telecommunications industry, while empowering millions of consumers and businesses to keep their telephone numbers when changing communications service providers.

Neustar initially assisted the communications industry in wireline number portability, which was implemented in 1997, and has since worked with the industry to deploy wireless, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and intermodal number portability. The company is now poised to assist the industry as it moves toward all-IP networks in the coming years.
