StubHub is the Official Fan-to-Fan Ticket Marketplace of MLS’ Portland Timbers

Timbers become StubHub’s second MLS club partner

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Portland Timbers have partnered with StubHub, in which the world's largest ticket marketplace will become the official fan-to-fan ticket marketplace of the Timbers. Along with Paciolan, a leading provider of ticketing, marketing, and fundraising solutions to live entertainment organizations, the partnership provides a safe, guaranteed secondary marketplace for Timbers fans to buy and sell tickets, backed by StubHub’s FanProtect Guarantee in which each ticket transaction will be between fans and managed by StubHub.

“This partnership will facilitate a brand new ticketing experience for Timbers fans,“ said Greg Ivry, StubHub Business Development Director. “We are thrilled to bring the StubHub service to fans in Portland.”

Effective immediately, StubHub marketing assets will be highly visible at Timbers’ home games at JELD-WEN Field, including LED displays, in-game promotions, and a permanent backlit panel sign. StubHub will have online placements on the Timbers official website and social media. Also included is a once in a lifetime hospitality experience, where fans will have the opportunity to deliver the first ball.

“We are pleased to be able to offer our fans a certified, secure way to buy and sell their tickets, and to provide another great benefit to season ticket holders,” said Joe Cote, Vice President of Ticket Sales for the Timbers.

Paciolan, along with their sister company New Era Tickets, offers software integration with StubHub to enhance the overall fan experience. When a fan purchases tickets online, Paciolan software re-issues a completely new ticket barcode, canceling the old, and marking a seamless exchange of tickets. Combined with StubHub's FanProtect Guarantee, the collaboration presents Timbers fans with complete protection from fraud and a stress-free purchasing process.

“We are very excited to continue offering innovative teams, like the Portland Timbers, the ability to integrate with the industry’s largest ticket marketplace,” said Dave Butler, CEO of Paciolan. “It is a great season ticket holder benefit as the process to sell unused tickets becomes extremely simple and convenient.”

StubHub has extended its presence into soccer, both domestically and abroad. The partnership with the Portland Timbers represents StubHub’s second MLS club agreement, after the LA Galaxy. The leading secondary ticketing company also has official club agreements with three English Premier League teams; Everton, Sunderland and Tottenham.
