NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Assurant Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Assurant, Inc., announced today that it will donate $50,000 to the American Red Cross to assist residents of Oklahoma affected by tornadoes. In addition, the Assurant Foundation will match employee donations in support of disaster relief efforts.

The Assurant Foundation will provide a two-for-one match of employee donations to the American Red Cross as part of a “Do More for Moore” challenge. “Assurant and our employees embrace a strong tradition of outreach in the communities where we live, work and serve. We respect and are proud to support the tireless commitment of the many volunteers striving to help area residents recover and rebuild their communities,” said Robert B. For more than three decades, the Assurant Foundation has provided financial assistance to charitable organizations assisting with disaster recovery. In recent years, through support of the American Red Cross, contributions have helped those affected by Superstorm Sandy, victims of earthquakes and tsunamis in Haiti, Chile, Japan and Indian Ocean, as well as communities hit by extreme storms and tornadoes throughout the U.S.
