I believe that Broadpoint Gleacher Securities Group, formerly First Albany Companies, will continue to outperform as the company continues to grow and expand into new business areas. I have been following this stock since its principal shareholder, MatlinPatterson acquired the majority of First Albany back in May of 2007. Since then the stock has risen from the mid $1 range to over $9 before coming back to the mid $6 range right now. For what may be considered a "turnaround" situation, Broadpoint Gleacher has been acheiving every goal they have set for themselves. Each quarter both sales and earnings rise and as a result the company has been setting higher and higher goals. The combination of experienced management (Eric Gleacher & Lee Fensterstock), easy access to financing (MatlinPatterson), and new business opportunities (international, etc.) all signify that BPSG has the ability to outperform. I continue to be a shareholder in this company and look forward to seeing this stock rise.
