Too Late to Buy Big Blue?

The following video is part of our "Motley Fool Conversations" series, in which Motley Fool financial editors Andrew Tonner and Austin Smith discuss their favorite stocks.

In today's edition, Andrew gives his reason "Big Blue" may still be a buy, even after Warren Buffett himself amassed a 5.5% ownership stake in the company. Oftentimes people think they've missed out on the opportunity when news breaks that Buffett has made a purchase because people often flood to the stock, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

The coming revolution?
As incredible of a company as IBM is, there is an even better way to play the technology field. The Motley Fool has compiled a special free report titled "The Next Trillion Dollar Revolution." In it you'll find our top pick for riding the mobile revolution to riches. Make no mistake -- this change is occurring right now. The only question is whether you'll watch it go by idly, or profit. Thousands have requested access already, and you can uncover this company today by clicking here. Don't worry -- it's totally 100% free.

The Steve Jobs Betrayal
You may already know that in the final year of his life, Jobs revealed a stunning betrayal — and told his biographer, "I will spend my last dying breath... and every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank to right this wrong." What was it that made Jobs so irate — and why could it make a few in-the-know investors some major profits over the coming months and years?

Enter your email address below to find out what made Jobs so enraged!

Keep selling it guys...cause I am shorting the stock once it hits 190.

Management means nothing compared to actual products, which in IBM's case are, well, not all that great except for Watson.

Apple, MS, Oracle (now that it has Sun and MySQL) are much better technologies. Even the link to this article - the .aspx in the page - means you are using Microsoft. There is a reason for that.

And I don't think tying your software in with your hardware is a viable business strategy anymore. Quite the opposite in fact.

I am a DBA, a certified geek, who works with IBM technology all the time. And I hate it because it is so cumbersome. It is like using a hand saw versus a chain saw. I almost always suggest a different technology when asked.

Warren Buffet stayed away from technology for a long time. I think he is getting advice from strictly financial types, not tech geeks. His positive record is mostly from getting advice from the real people who know, and in this case I think he strayed from his own investing principles.

Be careful - of following Buffett into tech stocks - he never buys tech stocks - IBM is NOT a tech stock and there are no similar stocks around that I can see. Here's an insight into why Buffett really bought IBM:
