The tech giants that can monetize crucial services which are still in the labs with the potentials to be life saving to mass public will win the mobile war. I would enumerate the top three such crucial services: 1) early earthquake warning system. Currently there are some seismic activity detection systems. These can be monetized by providing their reports to subscribers who live in earthquake prone areas just as Japan, California and many such districts for a fee. 2) hurricane warning system. 3) accurate weather forecast systems. For the agricultural communities, accurate weather forecasts for an entire season can be invaluable in their crop planning for a fee.

Of course, these warning and forecasting systems would require the use of petaflops supercomputers. Apple with its $85 billion cash is in the best position to put these petaflops supercomputers in the iCloud providing such paid services to use on iPads for a fee.
