ExxonMobil Faces an Uphill Battle Against Venezuela

  • Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN  ) -owned Zappos had 24 million customer accounts hacked in a recent cyber-attack. Amazon acquired the shoe retailer, which is known for its strong customer service, in 2009 for more than $1.2 billion.  
  • Shares of Carnival (NYSE: CCL  ) tumbled after one of its ships ran aground off the Italian coast, killing at least six people. As of this morning, rescue and recovery efforts were still under way for nearly 30 missing passengers.
  • Venezuela has decided to leave the World Bank's international arbitration association, presenting another obstacle for ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM  ) in its quest to get additional compensation from the government after it nationalized its Cerro Negro project.
  • According to a Bloomberg report, Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS  ) plans to limit its cash bonuses to $125,000 this year. The decision is the latest move to restructure Wall Street compensation.
