Qualcomm might rule the mobile roost now, but Intel just entered the market with its Medfield Atom chip, which beat Qualcomm's ARM-based chip on both performance and power consumption, and that's Intel's first shot across the bow. Medfield is on the 32nm node, and hot on its heels is Haswell on the 22nm node, which will absolutely sip wattage. My prediction: By 2015 Intel will have pushed Qualcomm out of the mobile spotlight.

Highly doubt it. I think INTC will take some market share but QCOM is the market leader in the space by far and it will take a while for the broadcoms and intels to take this specific market away from them. On top, the growth of the smart phones as robust as it is makes it okay for the entry of others in terms of competition. I do believe we will witness the explosive growth once again in the Feb 1st quarter numbers and this year.
