    Hi,

Talking about ZIP being down about 30% and comparing it to another stock that eventually succeeded but was in between also down 25% or 30% on occasion is really not apples to apples, because ZIP is down roughly 65% from its peak without any V-shaped recovery in sight (at least at the moment).

That I also don't see that huge potential in the car sharing business in general (not about ZIP in particular) is maybe just me and I can certainly be wrong on this one. It existed (exists?) in Germany for a very long time already but never took really off. What makes the Fool believe it'll be much different in the US?

I think the exuberant and detractors are both wrong. The price will settle down, maybe somewhere well above $10.

To me, Zip Car is the private version of San Francisco's (where I live) City Carshare which is a non-profit. I've used both, Zip Car in DC, and they're pretty much the same, but Zip Car doesn't have as big a tude as Carshare. Zip car staff are much easier to deal with.

There is no doubt that Zip and City Carshare are so much better than owning. I have the means and a parking space to own a car, but I'm much better off renting the parking space out and using Carshare. My monthly Carshare bill is less than the rent I receive on my parking space, so if you add gas, insurance, depreciation it just amazes me that more people don't dump their autos.

The convenience is unbeleivable for me, the car is only a short walk away and hassle free.

I own Zip Car stock and I'm accumulating more on price dips. It's one of my long term plays, so I think it will do well. But I doubt it will have a 1,000 percent rise in a few years.

One of the biggest bones I have to pick with TMF recommendations is the penchant to dub many redfcommnedations as the next whatever.

In this case ZIP is the next HD. Or SCSS is the next DELL. My experience is these declarations are never are the next anything. Eddie Lampert is the next Warren Buffet.

ZIP and HD are two totally different stories. Two totally different business in two totallty different economic climates. If the basis of the recommendation is they share some simlar metrics I would think that is a flawed analysis.

That's certainly not the basis of the recommendation, Matt, but passing the "Next Home Depot" screen is how Zipcar became eligible for my screening-based port. It is just one data point in the investing thesis.
