Is Microsoft Killing Cable?

The following video is part of our "Motley Fool Conversations" series, in which research analyst Lyons George and industrials editor/analyst Isaac Pino discuss topics across the investing world.

With the video game industry's annual E3 trade show in full swing, it's tough not to get excited about the technology that might be coming soon to a screen near you. In today's edition, Isaac and Lyons discuss why Microsoft deserves this year's "best in show" award -- and a good deal of investor attention. Outfitted with newly announced "SmartGlass" technology, Mr. Softy's Xbox 360 platform is quickly outgrowing its video game roots. From movie streaming to Internet search to real-time interaction with other smart devices, the world’s best-selling console stands to kick traditional television -- and the cable companies that provide it -- straight to the curb. Watch as our analysts discuss how the company that put a computer on every desk will conquer the living room, and whom it might displace along the way.

You can watch movies and TV shows on the Xbox 360. The problem is that it's just really expensive. I don't get it. It only becomes interesting to me if it's 'slightly cheaper' -- is that the case?
