Today, industrials editor/analyst Brendan Byrnes discusses Dow heavyweight Caterpillar's recent agreement with Westport Innovations to develop natural-gas-powered engines for mining trucks and locomotives. The deal makes sense for both companies -- Caterpillar will fund the development but get access to Westport's significant technology, while Westport has another big customer and tie-up with a major manufacturer.
