Department store chain Kohl’s (NYSE: KSS) has announced plans to hire at least 52,700 workers for the holiday season, with responsibilities ranging from cashiers to stocking employees, it announced in a press release yesterday. This represents more than a 10% increase from the number of holiday hires last year.

With more than 1,000 stores in all but one U.S. state, that works out to more than 40 seasonal hires per store; the company will also hire roughly 5,700 to its distribution centers and credit ops unit.

Most of the new staff will not be full-time, working anywhere between several hours per week to upwards of 20. The positions are expected to be filled by mid-November.
