The super-spy's latest film Skyfall took in the most from cinema ticket sales over the weekend, with $10.8 million. The movie is a resounding success, with more than $260 million in domestic receipts and $657 million abroad so far this year, against an estimated budget of $200 million. The film is distributed by Sony's (NYSE: SPE ) Columbia Pictures.
Second place belonged to another film that's been in release for some time, the holiday-themed Rise of the Guardians from DreamWorks Animation (NASDAQ: DWA ) .
