On Thursday, the U.S. Department of Defense announced the award of a $997 million cost-plus-fixed-fee, multiple-award-task-order contract for the provision of "systems engineering and technical assistance services in support of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command."
Nine companies are named as splitting the work and the payment -- all based in Huntsville, Ala., and all privately owned -- and none are subsidiaries of any of the major defense contractors. They include Analytical Services, COLSA Corp., Engineering Research and Consulting; DMD Group, Quantum Research International, Radiance Technologies, Sigmatech, System Studies and Simulation, and Warfighter Solutions.
Work on the contract has an estimated completion date of December 20, 2017.
