On Wednesday, Airbus announced that Lebanon's national airline, Middle East Airlines-Air Liban, has signed a firm contract to purchase five A320neo aircraft, and five more A321neos. This confirms the terms of a memorandum of understanding that the two parties signed in July.
While in the past, Middle East Airlines has patronized both of the major airplane builders, it no longer operates Boeing (BA -0.24%) aircraft, and currently has an all-Airbus fleet , comprised of fairly new A320, A321, and A330 aircraft.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed but, based on Airbus's published price list for 2012, the list price on 10 aircraft such as those described in Wednesday's release would average a total of $1.05 billion.
