Both Kinder Morgan (KMI -0.32%) and Kinder Morgan Energy Partners (NYSE: KMP) have announced higher payouts on their Q4 2012 results.

The two tightly related firms will significantly boost their quarterly disbursements when compared to their year-ago payouts. Kinder Morgan is to pay $0.37 per share on Feb. 15 to shareholders of record as of Jan. 31. That represents an increase of $0.01 (2.8%) over the previous quarterly disbursement, and is 19% higher than the $0.31 paid for its Q4 2011 dividend.

Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, meanwhile, is to lift its payout to $1.29 per share, payable on on Feb. 14 to shareholders of record as of record Jan. 31. The dividend for its previous quarter was $1.26, while that for the same period the previous year stood at $1.16. So that's an 11% increase year over year and a 2.4% increase from the previous quarter.
