A spin-off of eBay's PayPal and Bill Me Later as a combined entity will create value for the shareholders, but the number of interrelated transactions are way too high, which prevents it from happening.

A spin-off of eBay's PayPal and Bill Me Later as a combined entity will create value for the shareholders... Really? I listened to the interview and could Not disagree more. Let's think about it for a minute. Spin it off to create "value for share holders". Sure another Visa, MC, AMEX, etc etc etc to use for purchasing or buy now & pay later. Sure this would "work" but it's the combo of what PayPal is doing for ebay and vice-versa that is creating the synergy. for both. In the long run, yeah I can see a spin off, maybe but not now. Also, has this guy ever been to ebay for more than 15min?, purchased or sold anything? I think not, else he would already know that Retailers, Manufacturers, The Source, distributors, middle-men and all else and in between ALREADY sell on ebay!!!. ebay, whether he knows it or not is already a thousand times more profitable than Amazon, a different model (same that he was looking for). however both are still teenagers. He'd like to see a spin off? What did your parents kick you out at age 18? Doubt it and they probably even helped pay for college so you could become a Sr Analyst at the Fool to say what you espoused above. Is there merit, yeah, but let's wait until we have a space ship before trying to launch to space.
