Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS ) garnered a lot of investor enthusiasm over the past year as the company looked as if it may rebound on the back of its Nook division, coupled with a timely investment from Microsoft. But fast-forward a year later, and this knife has continued to fall. Neither Microsoft nor Barnes & Noble's tablet hopes have paid off, leaving B&N investors out in the cold.
