Ever wanted to know exactly when your friends were watching Downton Abbey? Well, wonder no more!

Netflix (NFLX 1.72%) is joining forces with Facebook (META -10.85%) to create Netflix Social.  Users of both services can choose when and what they wish to post on their mini-feeds. In short, if you want everyone to know you're watching a French art house movie, now you can put it up on your Facebook feed. The same goes for your guilty-pleasure TV shows. (RuPaul's Drag Race, anyone?)

The news comes as a big win for Netflix, which fought hard to get Congress to change its Video Protection Act just for this new service. After all that work, will this new venture pay off? In the video below, Fool contributor Caroline Bennett examines the new partnership.
