Will "Orange Is the New Black" Be Netflix's Next Breakout Hit?

The following video is from Wednesday's installment of The Motley Fool's Weekly Tech Review, in which analysts Eric Bleeker and Jason Moser look at the biggest stories driving the tech sector this week.

Orange Is the New Black premiered on Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX  ) on Thursday. Can writer Jenji Kohan draw in devoted Netflixers? Producing original content frees Netflix of the burden of licensing fees, and House of Cards, Netflix's first foray into original content, built some serious buzz. Can Orange capitalize on this?

The television landscape is changing quickly, with new entrants such as Netflix and disrupting traditional networks. The Motley Fool's new free report, "Who Will Own the Future of Television?" details the risks and opportunities in TV. Click here to read the full report!

Typically very informative reviews. However, why even bring this topic up to a non subscriber? Answering if something is going to be a NetFlix hit would probably be best received from a NetFlix member. I, for one, love the all episodes at once distribution. Plus it allows you to move onto other content. Besides, nothing is stopping people from holding off watching episodes at a slower pace. This time you are in control, not them.

I watched the new show and think it will be a hit. Not as much of a hook as House of Cards but that just could be demographics. This show is about women, with mostly women cast, in a women based environment while I'm an alpha male. That being said...the show is well made and was a very good experience to watch. In my opinion it will be watched by many others too.
