Microsoft’s Surface Struggles Continue

The hits just keep on coming for software shrinking violet Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT  ) .

Halting what had been a very strong year thus far for the perennial laggard, shares of the software giant plummeted after its second-quarter earnings disappointed investors in just about every way imaginable. Perhaps most notably, the company was forced to take yet another writedown (remember aQuantitative?) on Surface RT tablets in need of a home. And while this certainly hurt the company, many observers expected the Surface Pro to be the real leader in Microsoft's mobile future anyway.

However, as tech and telecom analyst Andrew Tonner explains in this video, all might not be well with Microsoft's tablet better half, either.

This is what happens when you listen to hipsters and let them dicate the direction you should take with your company and it's products rather than to customers and professionals who use your products, eventually you only have a handful of hipsters that are happy with what you make but still won't buy or use it and cities full of customers who would rather bludgeon you to death than use your product.

Unfortunately Microsoft's user base is a bunch of old lazy luddites or technologically retarded people who whine about touchscreens and freak out when you move the start button.
