The dividend pilot light continues to burn at Ameren (AEE -0.48%). The company has declared a quarterly common stock distribution of $0.40 per share, to be paid on September 30 to shareholders of record as of September 11. That amount matches all of the firm's preceding disbursements stretching back to December 2011. Previous to that, Ameren paid $0.385 per share.

The just-declared dividend annualizes to $1.60 per share. That yields 4.5% at the firm's current stock price of $35.50.

The news comes slightly over a week after Ameren reported its Q2 results. For the quarter, operating revenues were $1.4 billion, and attributable net income was $95 million ($0.39 per diluted share). Those figures for Q2 2012 were $1.4 billion and $211 million ($0.87), respectively.
