Billerica, Mass.-based American Science & Engineering (ASEI) won its second big contract for a foreign sale of "ZBV" Mobile Screening Systems on Monday, adding to the 10 orders it won last Tuesday.

Today's order, for eight more ZBVs, was placed by an unidentified "customer in the Middle East." Combined with sales to similarly unnamed customers from the Middle East, Asia, Europe, South America, and North America last week, it brings to 18 the number of ZBVs sold in the last six days. And at an estimated price of $1.2 million per van, this means AS&E has now booked orders worth $21.6 million, or approximately 12% of annual revenue.

Commenting on the sale, AS&E CEO Chuck Dougherty noted that: "We have experienced increased activity levels around the ZBV platform in international markets where the system's versatility, maneuverability, and unique detection capabilities make it ideal for a broad range of security applications." The company's new Middle Eastern customer intends to use the ZBVs "to inspect vehicles and cargo at high-risk checkpoints."
