For the third time in a week, Billerica, Mass.-based American Science & Engineering (NASDAQ: ASEI ) has announced a significant contract win.
Following up on last Tuesday's announcement of 10 ZBV Mobile Screening System orders to customers round the globe, and yesterday's announcement of eight more ZBVs sold to a "Middle East" buyer, AS&E announced this Tuesday that it has received an order for $4.5 million worth of Z Portal multi-view cargo screening systems and Gemini parcel inspection systems from security equipment distributor ESE Co.
Combined with the other orders booked, today's order brings AS&E's tally for contracts landed over the past seven days to roughly $26 million, or 14% of annual revenue.
AS&E says that the Z Portal and Gemini equipment will be used "to protect the science and technology center of a university in the Middle East."
Commenting on the sale, AS&E CEO Chuck Dougherty noted: "AS&E's inspection systems will play a critical role in securing a key facility on the campus of one of the most prestigious universities in the Middle East. With the need for heightened security on campuses globally, our Z Portal and Gemini systems will protect students, faculty, and infrastructure by closely inspecting all cargo and parcels entering the campus for metallic and non-metallic threats and contraband."
