Five years later, Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A -0.34%) (BRK.B -0.01%) is still riding high on its Goldman Sachs (GS 1.59%) investment.

During the depths of the financial crisis, Buffett led a $5 billion preferred-stock investment in Goldman. Now, the warrants remaining from the deal are set to be exchanged for a hefty common-stock position in the investment bank.
