Specialty chemicals maker Albemarle (ALB -0.25%) announced today that it has completed the installation of a granulation and blending system in Shanghai that will add more capacity and product forms to its portfolio, in support of its growth initiatives.
The expansion increases Albemarle's total Ethanox one-pack capacity to more than 10,000 metric tons per year and adds the capability to make one-pack formulations of up to eight components. The standalone one-pack shop in Shanghai now has the capability of producing non-dusting antioxidants in both granules and pellets.
Ethanox antioxidants, part of Albemarle's polymer solutions business segment, maintain the performance integrity and processing stability of plastics, elastomers, adhesives, and other materials. The expansion also provides Albemarle with cost-effective one-pack solutions on a global basis because of the proximity to the Shanghai seaport.
Albemarle has supplied one-pack solutions to the top polyolefin producers for over five years.
