The Department of Defense awarded 15 new defense contracts worth $443.8 million in total value Monday. One defense contractor won a single contract that accounts for more than 22% of all funds on offer.

Boeing's (BA 0.20%) award yesterday, worth $99.6 million, modifies a contract originally awarded in April 2009 for low-rate initial production, or LRIP, of P-8A Poseidon subhunting aircraft for the U.S. Navy. Specifically, the modification announced Monday funds the addition of a maintenance training device suite and ordnance load trainer to the equipment being acquired under the second tranche, LRIP II, of P-8A Multi-Mission Maritime aircraft being bought under the underlying contract.

The maintenance training device suite will include six virtual maintenance trainer devices and 14 Hardware Type II devices. Delivery is expected by June 2016.
