Liquefied natural gas or LNG is a hot topic these days. Whether the conversation is on the future of energy, exporting natural gas or meeting new power demand from Asia, you would be hard-pressed not to hear the word LNG mentioned. I guess that is why LNG was actually mentioned a whopping 66 times during Chevron's (NYSE: CVX ) recent Q313 earnings call.
While investors continue to focus on names like Chevron, Royal Dutch Shell (NYSE: RDS-A ) , ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM ) and Cheniere Energy (NYSEMKT: LNG ) , the real alpha may actually come from the engineering technology to build new LNG terminals and make them more efficient. This has me excited about Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR ) , which is moving from mining to hydrocarbons and KBR, Inc, a company with a new CFO and new patent to reduce vaporization during the liquefaction process.
