So when is this coal turnaround expected to happen? If you were to listen to management of coal companies during presentations and conference calls, it will happen relatively soon. If you were to look at the actions that management is taking, though, the time until this turnaround happens seems much further down the road.
Alpha Natural Resources (NYSE: ANR), Arch Coal (NYSE: ACI), and Alliance Natural Resources (ARLP -0.05%) are all shuttering mines, stopping the sales of certain coals, and idling as much equipment as possible.
