The Department of Defense awarded 15 new defense contracts Friday, worth $296.4 million in total. Defense contractor L-3 Communications (LLL) won two of them:

  • A firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract worth up to $85.5 million to pay for supply of unspecified "spare and component satellite terminal parts" to the U.S. Army. Delivery is due Jan. 9, 2019.
  • A $10 million firm-fixed-price indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to supply the U.S. Army with unspecified commercial lighting tubes "which increase range and field of vision in darkness" for use by special operations troops. Delivery on this contract is due Jan. 2, 2018.

The latter of these two contracts appears to duplicate -- exactly -- a previous award from earlier in the week, on Monday, when a contract with the same wording, same dollar value, and same identification number was also announced.
