InterOil (NYSE: IOC) just filled its cash coffers with one of those big golf tournament-type checks from Total (TTE -0.50%). With $400 million now on the books, the company will be able to accelerate its plans to explore and develop its massive acreage licenses on the island nation of Papua New Guinea. This is the first major step in the right direction for InterOil, and hopefully it will translate to success down the road toward building its own liquefied natural gas terminal to service the high-demand Asia-Pacific market.
