During the next few months Activision Blizzard (ATVI) will release two new games that have been under development for seven years between them. But will that extra time commitment pay off for the game publisher?

In the following video, Fool contributor Demitrios Kalogeropoulos takes a closer look at Destiny, set for release in September, and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which comes out in November. Developer Bungie has been working on Destiny for more than four years, but Activision has plans for the brand that stretch out into the future much farther than that, he notes.

Next up is a fresh addition to a much older brand: Call of Duty's latest chapter is worth paying attention to as its the first installment in the franchise to benefit from a three-year, as opposed to a two-year, development cycle. That change should make for a much more polished game, with better graphics -- and, ideally, a bug-free launch. Both of these titles will be critical to Activision's future, so investors should watch closely for new details about them to be unveiled at next month's E3 industry conference.
