The Motley Fool's energy analyst, Taylor Muckerman, recently interviewed Larry Ryan, the business president of energy and water solutions at The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE:DOW), while at the 2014 Offshore Technology Conference in Houston. Ryan is also the general manager of oil and gas at The Dow Chemical Company, a leading specialty chemical developer. 

In the following video, the two of them discuss the oil and gas industry, specifically focusing on how The Dow Chemical Company permeates all sectors of the industry to offer solutions for a wide-range of problems. Ryan explores how the company offers chemicals in upstream and downstream technologies, such as optimizing oil plants and enhancing oil recovery.

They also take into consideration the offshore market, and Ryan explains how energy and water solutions can tailor existing technologies or develop new technologies for the harsh environments of offshore drilling. Additionally, he dives into water scarcity issues and The Dow Chemical Company's continued development of water recycling technologies.
