The Motley Fool's energy bureau chief, Joel South, interviewed Fadi Michael Matta, the president of Wellbore Technologies at National Oilwell Varco (NOV -0.16%) while attending the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston. Prior to heading Wellbore Technologies Matta worked as the president of the Downhole Group at National Oilwell Varco from 2010.
In the interview, South and Matta discuss what Wellbore Technologies will focus on in the coming years after Matta first outlines the reasons behind the National Oilwell Varco segmentation. Matta explains that the new segment will hone in on designing, developing, and manufacturing technology to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and offer environmental solutions for their customers.
