Shareholders at New York Community Bancorp  (NYSE: NYCB  )  voted on Friday to reject the compensation plan governing pay for the bank's top executives. Is this a sign of trouble to come? Or does it mean something else?

    As a shareholder of NYCB who voted against the pay plan I'll be glad to explain why. I vote against pay plans for all companies I own shares in because in case you haven't heard there is a fast growing sentiment that those at the top are making too much.

    I'd expect to see more of this as more investors join the protest against the spreading wage disparity between the top few and the masses.
