The Dow Jones REIT Index is up about 17%.

Real estate investment trust (REIT) stocks like Annaly Capital Management (NLY -0.35%) and Realty Income (O 0.44%) are not dead quite yet. In fact, he argues that the REIT sector has made quite a comeback in 2014.

For example, Annaly Capital Management and Realty Income have both shown positive growth this year, up around 20% and 23% respectively, including dividends.
