While oil prices have plunged, tightening margins at energy companies across the world, ExxonMobil (XOM -0.83%) remains a favorite among money managers and investors. Its top five shareholders control $54.2 billion worth of its outstanding common stock, equating to an ownership interest of 16.1%.

While this is a big stake, it's noticeably smaller on a percentage basis than other leading companies, such as Chevron and Chipotle Mexican Grill:

  • Chevron's five biggest shareholders control 19.3% of the energy company's outstanding stock. That equates to $31.3 billion worth of Chevron shares.
  • Chipotle Mexican Grill's five biggest stockholders own 27.6% of its stock, equal to $9.3 billion worth of Chipotle shares.

So, who are ExxonMobil's five biggest shareholders? You can find the answer to this question in the brief slideshow below.
