WORK AT THE MOTLEY FOOL

Ten Great Reasons to Work at The Motley Fool

Our Mission
We help people make better financial decisions. To get out of the red. To get into (sometimes, way into) the black. To make dreams of financial independence come true. A first home. A Princeton diploma. A year in Paris. A private island for retirement. We make American capitalism work for The Little Guy.
The Foolish Team
The number-one reason people love their jobs here is that we have a great team. We are a fairly laid back group that isn't frazzled by much. We take our work seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. So, office politics and water cooler complaints are left to the office dog, Poesy.
Transparency
The Motley Fool is a remarkably open company at every level. Chances are, you'll get answers to questions before you even have to ask. (But if you don't, please ask.) You can easily see how your work is moving the business. The numbers are straight up and out in the open. When we have a bad quarter, you'll know about it. When profits are piling up, we break out the Margarita Machine!
Freedom to make mistakes
Theodore Roosevelt nailed our working philosophy, "Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat." We want you to swing for the fences here -- and we understand that sometimes you're going to strike out.
Surprise Guests
You never know who's going to drop by to chat on a visit to the Fool. Terry Bradshaw, James Carville, Howard Schultz, Ben Stein...
Fun
We enjoy ourselves. Whether it is the office Rock-Paper-Scissors tourney, the free theater tickets, or the annual ski trip, we play hard. Even our yearly charity drive (raising serious money) is a blast.
Pride
We do good work, and we have a shining reputation. It gives you a certain strut knowing that people depend on us ... up to and including Congressional testimony. When Arthur Levitt was Chairman of the SEC, he came to our office to tell us, "Without The Motley Fool, regulation FD would never have passed." From newsletters to web site technologies, our stuff rocks.
Financial Independence
You're surrounded by very smart people who know a lot about the market and personal finance. Don't even think of violating our very stringent disclosure and trading policies, but what you learn here can help you manage and invest your money more intelligently. Plus you save a fortune on dry-cleaning.
No boredom
It is occasionally crazy here. We work at a fast pace. People who are just as smart and creative as you are may not always agree with you -- but there's no soulless bureaucracy.
Cool caps!
