Among the earnings projection stories for Tuesday, Jan. 22, from AP Financial News:

HOUSTON (AP) _ Vaalco Energy Inc. said Tuesday it has ceased operations at a well in the U.K.'s North Sea because its reserves turned out to be "smaller than anticipated."

PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Laser component maker II-VI Inc. said Tuesday it expects to post a fiscal third-quarter profit of 37 cents to 42 cents per share on $81 million to $84 million in revenue.

ATLANTA (AP) _ Aaron Rents Inc., which sells and rents furniture and other home goods, said Tuesday it expects fourth-quarter earnings to miss Wall Street forecasts due to increased new store expenses.
