Xerium Technologies Inc., which makes textile belts and machine covers for paper manufacturers, on Friday announced the resignation of its president and chief executive and named a replacement.

Thomas Gutierrez resigned as an officer and director of the company after six years as its chief executive.

Xerium named Stephen R. Light as its new president and chief executive, effective Monday. Light will also become a member of the company's board at the same time.

Light was president and chief executive of Flow International Corp. before retiring last year.

Xerium shares rose 5 cents to $5 in aftermarket trading, after falling 29 cents, or 5.5 percent, to $4.95 in the regular session.
