Nexen Inc., a Canadian petroleum company, spent $580,000 last year to lobby Congress on energy issues.
The company spent $500,000 in the second half of 2007 to lobby members of Congress on U.S. energy policy and U.S.-Canadian cooperation on energy issues, according to a disclosure form posted online Feb. 14 by the Senate's public records office.
Nexen spent $80,000 in the first six months of 2007 to lobby members of Congress on U.S. energy and climate policy and U.S.-Canadian cooperation on energy issues.
Lobbyists are required to disclose activities that could influence members of the executive and legislative branches, under a federal law enacted in 1995.
