Montpelier Promotes Paquette to CFO

Insurer Montpelier Re Holdings Ltd. said Tuesday that it hired Michael Paquette as Chief Financial Officer, replacing Kernan Oberting effective May 1.

Paquette became Montpelier's group controller in May 2007, after working at White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd. for 18 years. The company said Oberting, who has been CFO since October 2004, is leaving to start a New Hampshire-based investment advisory company.

The company also named Paquette an executive vice president.

Montpelier, which is based in Bermuda, said Oberting will continue to advise the company until 2010.

Montpelier Re shares rose 18 cents to $16.24 Tuesday.
