Shares of financial and biotechnology companies were among the active stocks in premarket trading Friday.
TICC Capital Corp., a financial firm that provides capital to small and mid-sized technology companies, said Thursday its fourth-quarter net investment income decreased 10 percent. Shares lost 17 cents, or 2 percent, in premarket trading to $8.48.
Biotechnology company Dendreon Corp. said Thursday its fourth-quarter loss widened on higher research and development costs. Shares fell 2 cents to $5.05.
On the rising side, shares of Transition Therapeutics Inc. rose $1.89, or 17 percent, to $13. Drug maker Eli Lilly & Co. on Thursday said it will pay at least $7 million for exclusive worldwide rights to develop and commercialize some diabetes treatments in the company's pipeline
And shares of Yahoo Inc. edged higher on a report in The Wall Street Journal Friday that the Internet search company met with Microsoft Corp. Monday to discuss the software maker's takeover bid. Shares added 40 cents to $27.90.
