Taiwanese microchip testing company ASE Test Ltd. said Wednesday its fourth-quarter profit fell 10 percent as higher expenses outweighed revenue growth.
The company earned $29.9 million, or 29 cents per share, in the quarter, compared with $33.2 million, or 33 cents per share, in the 2006 fourth quarter.
Its cost of sales rose to $75.6 million from $74 million, while operating expenses rose to $16.7 million from $15.8 million.
Sales rose 23 percent to $134.7 million compared with $109.7 million in 2006.
For the 2007 fiscal year, the company's profit halved, making $75.3 million, or 73 cents per share, compared with $150.8 million, or $1.50 per share, a year earlier.
Sales totaled $475.1 million in the latest fiscal year.
